THE TURKEY CAMPOUT

By Michael Cicchetti, Troop Historian, 11/22/06

The turkey campout this year was held 10-12 Nov 2006 and was one of the best campouts that Boy Scout troop 19 has every year.  This campout is when we have our own Thanksgiving, cooking each turkey in a cardboard box. We had to cook over 100 pounds of turkey this year in eight cardboard boxes, and there were plenty of side dishes like mashed potatoes, squash, stuffing, and desserts!  Over 30 scouts and adults camped out with a number of guests showing for the turkey dinner on Saturday. This meant that over 100 people had to be feed, but no one went away hunger.  The weather was great with the rain holding off until after we got back to the church and unload.
