Are We Mountain Men or Not?
We arrived at the church at six o' clock. We took an hour and a half to pack the trailer and we got a late start. It took us forty-five minutes to get there. When we got there we unpacked the trailer and set up our tents. We had a snack and went to bed at ten o' clock. Scotty slept outside in his sleeping bag. On Saturday we had breakfast and set up our rain tarps. When we were done the new scouts worked on their Totin' Chip and Firem'n Chit. The older scouts went on a small hike and fixed a log bridge. When we got back we worked on making fires and all natural material. Afterwards we had lunch. Then we hung out for a while working a little on rank requirements. Then a little later we had the Iron Chef Competition. All of the patrols made a whole meal only with Dutch Ovens. The Foraging Frontiersmen won with a chicken and potato dish. They made the only peach cobbler that has ever succeeded in the patrol. The weird thing was that during summer camp Jeremy put 3 3/4 cups of oil in his last peach cobbler. During the last mountain man campout, Dillon accidently dumped the ashes on top of the cobbler completely ruining it. We hung out at a bonfire and did skits. Again the Foraging Frontiersmen came through winning an award for the most prepared skits. They came up with a total of thirteen spontaneous skits. The next morning almost all of us woke up to see one of the new scout patrols, Golden Snapping Turtles of Doom, had already taken down their campsite. We all cleaned up and rode to the church. We unpacked and left in our individual cars. Troop Historian Sam B. For photos taken by Mr. Richardson click here. Photos below taken by Troop Historian Sam B. |
