Scoutmaster Weekly Update          Apr 27, 2009

Our upcoming activities for Troop 19 include; assisting Dan Hein with his Eagle Scout Service Project, helping Pilgrim Church with their annual spring clean-up and an Olympic themed Sports Campout.  It should be a lot of fun so make plans now to attend.

The troop website has been updated with photographs from the Mountain Man Campout and information about the BSA’s religious award program.  Most faiths have a religious award that can be earned by the Scout through their church.  We are encouraging our Scouts to work on these awards.

Community Service – Eagle Service Project

Dear Friends and Scouts,

On Friday 5/1/2009 from 9 AM to 10 AM and from 3 PM to 4 PM, I will have a work day at my house polyurethaning wood. On Saturday 5/2/2009 from 9AM to 3 PM I will have another work day at the Norwell Home of Nashua, and on Saturday 5/9/2009 from noon to 3 PM,  I will have another work day at the Marguerite's place of Nashua. Both of these last two work days will consist of constructing shelving units. I am asking for assistance of volunteers for my Eagle Project. Completing this Eagle Project is the last step in achieving the rank of Eagle. I would greatly appreciate any help you are able to donate for my project. My eagle project will consist of helping out at two different care facilities in Nashua. The Norwell home offers services to individuals and families through crisis times in their lives so they can become self-sufficient. The other facility I plan to help out is at the Marguerite’s place. The Marguerite’s place is to help homeless women with children to live a better future. On 5/2/2009 I will be removing the shelves at the Norwell Home. After I remove these shelves, we will be installing new shelves to be used as storage for Rubbermaid bins, and other items. On 5/9/2009 we will be removing the trash, and the metal shelving unit at the Marguerite’s place. After the basement is clear we will then construct two new shelving units very similar to the one at the Norwell home. Also I will hold a food drive, to raise food for the food pantry at the Marguerite’s place. Everything is in place and all I need is your help. Refreshments will be present.

Place:

85 Palm Street - Marguerite’s Place

12 Concord Street - Norwell Home

Sign-up sheets will be available.

Thank for your help,

Dan Hein

Pilgrim Church Annual Spring Clean-up

The troop will be assisting Pilgrim Church on Saturday May 9th with outdoor raking and clean-up. Bring a rake labeled with your name and work gloves.  Once we have finished at noon we will have a BBQ.

May 15-17th Campout

Our May Campout is scheduled at Camp Calumet in Ossipee New Hampshire.  Dan Hein is the youth coordinator and Nate McManus is the adult coordinator.  We will need help with drivers for either Friday night or early Sunday.  Of course, we will need a sufficient number of adults on the weekend.  Some of our regular attending adults have conflicts that weekend, so this is a good campout to jump in on and help out.  The program will be sports and fitness based with Olympic themes.  Each patrol will represent a country to cook an ethnic meal for Saturday night.

Regards,

Greg Anthony
