Summer Camp Planning We have a number of meetings scheduled at 6:30 pm on Tuesday nights to prepare for summer camp and merit badge classes. The priority right now needs to be in being prepared for summer camp and that time slot before the troop meeting works best to meet. I am requesting if you are instructing a merit badge class at the same time to either delay holding the class for a few weeks or consider an alternate time. Secondly, merit badge classes or review should not occur during the troop meeting All Scouts are expected to be with their patrols participating in the troop program.
Olympic Campout This past weekend the troop traveled to Camp Calumet in Ossipee, NH for a fun filled and action packed weekend. The troop’s program theme was Olympics and the activities included capture the flag, soccer, ultimate Frisbee and relay races. The troop divided into two large groups to participate in a ropes course which included a variety of non-competitive but team building games. The troop also assisted the camp with a service project with relocating picnic tables. Look soon for some pictures to be posted on the troop website.
Backpacking Trip next Month! Our next major outing is the troop’s backpacking trip in the White Mountains. We have reserved a variety of campsites based on hiking distances to appeal to the variety of our Scouts abilities. Be sure to plan ahead for this event with having lightweight equipment and a backpack that fits properly. Up coming troop meetings will be focused on backpacking skills.
Congratulations to our newest Order of the Arrow Members This past weekend, Mike Mahoney, Jeremy Sayers and Mr. Charles Sayers completed their membership in the BSA’s Order of the Arrow at Hidden Valley Scout Reservation. The Order of the Arrow is Scouting’s honor society of campers. Congratulations in passing your membership requirements!
Eagle Court of Honor Everyone should have received a mailed invitation for the troop’s Eagle Court of Honor on May 31st at 4pm. Please RSVP if you are planning to attend the Banquet.
Thank you from Pilgrim Church Please thank the Boy Scouts for carrying up all the Yard Sale items last night. That is such a big help for us doing the Yard Sale on Saturday. Please pass along our thanks to the Scouts. Enjoy the day!
