Each year, the Daniel Webster Council offers the opportunity for individual Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, and Ventures to participate in an “adventure of a lifetime” which is a challenging Scouting experience at Philmont Scout Ranch, which is located in Cimarron, New Mexico. Philmont Scout Ranch is a national camping area, owned and operated by the Boy Scouts of America.

Philmont Scout Ranch offers the ultimate in high adventure program, and the ranch includes more than 185,000 acres of rugged terrain, or about 215 square miles, with hundreds of mountain peaks with elevations ranging from 6,500 to 12,441 feet, as well as dozens of unique programs. It is located in the Sangre de Cristo (Blood of Christ) range of the Rocky Mountains.

Organized into crews of 7-12 persons, including at least two adult leaders, participants hike Philmont's mountains for ten full days, spending nights at various backcountry camps. At staffed camps, crews can participate in a variety of programs presented by Philmont backcountry staff. Among these programs are horseback riding, burro packing, gold panning, rock climbing, 30.06 rifle shooting, archaeology, mountain biking and interpretive programs such as homesteading and mountain man rendezvous.

All applications to participate in this program must be submitted for a specific individual Scout or Venturer. Applications for more than one participant from that same family must be submitted on separate application form(s). Be sure to get your application submitted early to ensure yourself a space!

ALL TRIPS will depart from and return to the Manchester area and travel as a contingent group at all times. Travel arrangements include airline flight, chartered coach, or passenger van, touring fees, food, housing and Philmont program fees.

All participants are required to be in top physical condition, at least 14 years of age by January 1st, 2010 or 13 and have completed the eighth grade by July 7th, 2010, and are a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America.

The Daniel Webster Council Contingent will arrive at Philmont on July 9th, 2010. Scouts and adults will leave Philmont on July 21st. The total fee for 2010 is projected to be in the $1,850.00* range. The final trip price will be set not later than April 1st, 2010, when lodging/transportation/other costs have been determined. Please send in enclosed application with $300.00 Daniel Webster Council 571, Holt Avenue, Manchester, NH 03109.

A schedule of further payments and forfeitures will be included in the Daniel Webster Council letter confirming your reservation.
