Boy Scout Sunday, February 14th at Pilgrim Church

Plans are under way for the troop’s annual Scout Sunday Service.  Everett Woodward and Mr. Rich Filteau are coordinating this event. We need help from Scouts to participate in various parts of the service and will be looking for volunteers at the next two troop meetings.

Historically, Boy Scout Sunday is conducted by the troop with many of our Scouts (who represent several different faiths) participating in the Church Service.  Scouts serve as ushers, flag bearers as well as assist with the service with readings and prayers.  A Scout is Reverent and we believe it is important to participate even if you are not a member of Pilgrim Church.  One of the benefits of Scouting is that it encourages young men to learn about different faiths and the importance of respect and diversity of individuals.  We encourage not only the Scout to attend that day but the entire family.  Pilgrim Church has been very gracious in allowing us to help fulfill their mission and in delivering one of the best Boy Scout programs in the area.  This year marks 40 consecutive years that Troop 19 has been sponsored by Pilgrim Church.

Summer Camp

Troop 19 is scheduled to attend Hidden Valley on Week 3, which is July 11th to July 17th.  More information will be presented at our Court of Honor on February 16th.

Boy Scout Religious Award Program

The church your family belongs to most likely participates in the BSA religious Award Program.  You can check with your minister, priest, or rabbi for more information.  The following pertains to the Catholic Scouting Award.

A friend of mine, and fellow Eagle Scout, is a Catholic Priest and is doing the religious award for Catholic Scouts.

Catholic Religious Award called Pope Pius XII will be done with Father Chris Martel starting on 2/16. This award takes about 5 months to earn, and is primarily open for older scouts, around 15 or 16. If any are interested in working on this please ask them to give Chris a call at (603-772-2494).   If you provide your information to Adam Wolff I can pass it along to Father Martel as well.  They are looking at having our first meeting on Feb. 16 at 6:30 at St. John Neuman(On Milford Rd) in Merrimack. They will meet once a month, for about an hour and half each time.
