Participation Award Trip

The votes are in and the qualifying Scouts will be going white water rafting! More information to follow in two weeks.  We will schedule this based on maximum participation for those that have earned this trip.

Camping Hint—Keeping your sleeping bag and gear dry inside your tent

We certainly had a full share of wet gear on the last campout.  The URL below has an article in Scouting Magazine about tents and ground cloths—note the recommendation to keep a ground cloth inside the tent.  I have always used two –one under my tent and one inside.  Scouts should include a ground cloth as part of their personal equipment and use it inside their tent

I have used a space blanket inside my tent:

Another alternative is to use Tyvek.  It is light, crinkles up and does not tear.  Both have worked equally well for me.

Pitching and staking your tent correctly and keeping items away from the tent walls is important too!
