Another successful camping trip!  Everyone had a great time this past weekend at Camp Bell.  The weather was perfect and we certainly took advantage of it.  The scouts worked on compass and orienteering skills in the morning and the afternoon was focused on sports activities including the Challenge Valley Course at camp.  Dinner was well prepared by several patrols—in fact two of the patrols cooked shrimp as part of their dinner meal.  We had some excellent desserts including pears baked in honey.  Overall, a fun weekend with some good scouting skills learned.  Our next outdoor camping trip is the troop hike at Mt. Cardigan.

Meeting Reminders:

·         Tuesday night’s meeting will include a presentation on Leave No Trace.  Scouts may want to review the requirements in their handbook to earn the Leave No Trace Award.  This can be worked on during the June camping/hiking trip and the summer trips the troop has planned.  There will also be a presentation on hiking skills (pacing, staying comfortable and hydrated, safety, etc).

·         Leadership applications are due by June 8th.

·         Troop dues—several scouts are behind in dues.  Dues are $1 per week or $40 for the entire year.  If you joined the troop this past spring as former Webelos, the amount owed is prorated to $15 for the remainder of the year.  We want to close the troop books on dues by June 15th.    Contact either Jon Boutin or Mrs. Cutter if you have any questions.

June-
