This Tuesday night two of our summer backpacking crews will be meeting at the church.  Each crew will be finalizing their hike routes, planning menus and checking out backpacking tents, water filters and cooking kits.  Each Scout should bring his permission slip, backpack packed and hiking boots for inspection.  If you have any questions or can’t make it, be sure to let your Crew Leader know in advance.

If you have any troop equipment at your house we need it for the backpacking trips, please return it on Tuesday night or make arrangements with someone.

Thank you to our Adult Leaders; Scott Champagne, Garry Crane, Charlie Sayers, Paul Guertin, Lon Paulsen and Jim Woodward for sharing their vacation time with the Scouts at Hidden Valley.  I stopped by on Thursday and everyone was enjoying their week of camp.

If you like fireworks and want to participate in the BSA celebration at Merchants Auto Stadium in Manchester, be sure to check out the program planned for Saturday, July 31st.  Scouting demonstrations, information booths, contests, and more, followed by the historic nationwide “Shining Light” broadcast of the National Scout Jamboree Centennial Celebration Show! Scouting families, alumni, donors, and the general public are welcome to attend as we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.  $2 suggested minimum donation per person, but not required for entry. The program runs from 5pm to 10pm with Fireworks immediately afterwards.

 Help Wanted:

I hope your summer is going well.  As you may know, the Daniel Webster Council is sponsoring the Boston-Portsmouth Air Show at Portsmouth International Airport on August 28 and 29.  I am helping with set up, take down and facility maintenance on the days of the show.  I am looking for volunteers to help out also.  Set up will be on Wednesday, August 25 through Friday, August 27 and take down will be the evening of Sunday, August 29 through Monday, August 30.  On Saturday and Sunday the work will be whatever needs to be done at the time.  The entrance fee and meals will be provided for volunteers on Saturday and Sunday.

Also, we will be using the trams from the NH Motor Speedway.  These need to be towed to Portsmouth on Wednesday through Friday and towed back after the show.  Reimbursement for fuel will be provided.

If you are able to help out with any of these duties, please let me know by replying to me at s.hambleton@comcast.net or calling me at 623-5962.  If you know of anyone who might like to assist, please forward this email to them.
