For the next two weeks, Troop 19 will be participating in the BSA’s National Good Turn - Scouting for Food.   This first started by the BSA in 1988 and has resulted in the largest collection and distribution of food in the country.  We will be working with Pack 19 to place door hangers in the neighborhoods for food pick-up on November 13th.  The Pack has already started to distribute the hangers and the troop has 5 sets of hangers ranging from 80-135 hangers per set.  This is an ideal project for a patrol good turn or activity.  If a patrol is interested in doing this for a service project, let me know no later than Tuesday, otherwise we will look to volunteer scouts to help distribute the hangers.  They can be distributed at anytime between now and over the coming week.  The troop will plan to collect the food on Saturday, November 13th at the Charlotte Ave School (behind the school) starting at 9:30.  The tags say to have the food out by 8:30.  Scouts should plan to have all food picked up and to Charlotte Ave as soon after 9:30 as possible.  We will need help with scouts and drivers for the 13th.  Mrs. Richardson is coordinating with the troop and pack.

Another Good Turn Opportunity for our Scouts

If you know of any scouts that would like to do volunteer hours for a great cause I can help. I currently am enrolled in a program at the N.H. Food Bank in Manchester. On Saturdays they are always looking for young people to volunteer to hand out food at a location in Manchester. I can assist in coordinating if any are interested in doing this. All that is needed are adults to accompany the scouts to the volunteer site and work alongside them. It's for a good cause and they can see how the Food Bank works.

Wreath Sales

Let’s keep the momentum going strong.  Remember each wreath sold not only helps the troop fund our activities and equipment but you receive dollar(s) in your scout account.  You can use your scout account money for trips (summer camp, Yellowstone and other troop related trips) and also for Boy Scout related equipment and clothing needs.  Our goal is for every scout to sell at least 20 wreaths.  There will be some good prizes for all our sellers but you need to sell at least 20 to qualify.  The more you sell the better choice you have in picking prizes that are available.  Top seller gets first prize pick etc.

A few suggestions that have worked in the past;

·         Taking orders at your place of worship

·         Securing permission to sell on election day at school

·         Business owners that might want to purchase as gifts for customers or employees
