Wreath Assembly this Friday!

Wreath Sales
Assembly Day is this Friday. Sign-ups for a shift will be on Tuesday night. Scouts are all expected to sign-up for a shift (parents and siblings can help too!).
We can also use help on Wednesday to unload wreaths –we are expecting 2000 wreaths to be delivered between 10am and 2pm. Contact Jim Woodward and he will either email or call you once we have confirmation on the actual delivery time.
Wreath Assembly is at Mr. Woodwards house - see the weekly email for directions. Because of limited space, we will have sign-ups for work shifts at the Tuesday Troop meeting.
We are in the home stretch for our Wreath Sales. Currently we are behind on what we have sold per scout compared to the last two years. It is imperative that every scout makes an effort (A scout is loyal) and does his best (On my honor, I will do my best…) to help the troop sell wreaths this year. The troop immediate cash needs to purchase equipment, pay for campsites and cabin reservations, the annual registration fees and advancement awards. Just to give you idea on some of the expenses we pay, the last Troop Court of Honor cost over $400 just to purchase ranks and merit badges. In December the troop will spend over $2,000 to register all our scouts and leaders for 2011. We have tents that have been damaged (mold/mildew) that cost $300 each to replace. We go give out wreath prizes and scout bucks as an incentive, but the important message here is that everyone needs to do their part to support the troop in meeting our program needs. Those of you that have been working hard and selling a lot of wreaths—THANK YOU!

Troop 19 Meeting in Iraq
Eagle Scouts Richie Ehrenman (left) and Aaron Gerlitz (right) are currently deployed in Iraq. Richie Ehrenman earned his Eagle in 2004 and graduated from Norwich University in Vermont. Aaron Gerlitz earned his Eagle in 2003 and graduated from West Point Military Academy. Our thoughts and prayers are with Richie and Aaron and all our armed service personnel. Let us all be thankful this Thanksgiving for how blessed we are!
Turkey Campout
Troop 19 scouts and leaders had a fantastic camping trip this past weekend. The highlight of the weekend was the annual Thanksgiving Day dinner prepared and cooked by the troop. Each patrol constructed a card board box oven and then seasoned their turkey for baking. All the patrols prepared side dishes of either garlic mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, squash or roasted potatoes. Along with the side dishes each patrol made a special dessert of their choice (pineapple upside down cake, peach cobbler, cherry dump cake, chocolate chip cookies, apple/cranberry torte). The adults cooked the stuffing and made the turkey gravy and apple pies. . All the food was delicious! We had about 75 scouts, leaders and visitors in attendance. Webelos from Packs 19 and 272 visited us on Saturday. We consumed over 100 pounds of Turkey on Saturday. After dinner, the scouts had a scavenger hunt, played capture the flag and we ended the day with a troop campfire. Thank you to Mr. James Woodward as the adult coordinator for the camping trip. A very successful event!
Note: Please be sure to check for deer ticks, we had one reported after the campout.
