The program this Tuesday night is a Parent’s Night Program so please attend to recognize our scouts that are receiving awards, learn more about summer camp and also to consider making a contribution to our council’s Friends of Scouting annual campaign. The troop meeting will end early –8:30pm.
Tuesday night is also the night to sign up for summer camp if you want to take advantage of the early bird discounts. Mr. Paulsen is the Assistant Scoutmaster leading our troop to Camp Bell this summer during the week of August 7th. The troop will be collecting deposits to submit to the council for camp payment for those attending with the troop. Checks should be payable to Troop 19. More information is on the troop website and the council website (www.nhscouting.org)
Friends of Scouting
If you haven’t heard of it, Friends of Scouting is the annual giving campaign to support our Scout Council. As members of the Daniel Webster Council, our voluntary support is important. The Friends of Scouting campaign helps fund maintenance of our camping facilities, professional support services, program administration, and volunteer training. You will hear more about this during the presentation on Tuesday night.
Each Pack and Troop in our Council has a Friends of Scouting goal, so we are not alone in being asked to help. This year’s state-wide goal is $670,000.00. On average, it costs about $150.00 for the Daniel Webster Council to support each scout. When you join us at that level, we’ll be on target for our unit goal. The Friends of Scouting campaign is made up of donors who give at a level comfortable to them, whether that is $10.00 or $10,000.00. Our Council uses money wisely, and I’m happy to let you know that 90% of income goes into programs that directly affect our youth. Your money will not be wasted.
Before coming to the meeting on Tuesday night, I would ask that you think about what commitment level you could support. If you have a spouse to discuss this with, please do so. I know many people are thin on money right after the holidays. You don’t need to bring a check that night. You can make a pledge for later in the year. Monthly or quarterly payments can help extend your gift. Many employers also offer matching funds, so please check with your employer to see if they offer one.
Scouting has enjoyed a great 100 year history. Your support will help ensure continued success, and keep our camps strong. If you have any questions before the presentation, please feel free to ask myself or Ben Dibble, bldibble@aol.com, the Arrowhead District Friends of Scouting Chair.
Thank you.
Regards,
Greg Anthony
