Our scouts and leaders climbed Mt. Monadnock this past Saturday as part of our weekend camping trip. Despite the temperatures and wind on Saturday, everyone was prepared with appropriate clothing and positive attitude to make the hike. It was challenging for some and everyone worked well together in helping each other out by keeping a pace that was manageable for the different hike groups. Dealing with the weather elements was beneficial for all because we can easily encounter the same type of weather on just about any hike in NH and even for those heading to the Tetons this July the same conditions can occur.
What are you doing for dinner on Monday? This Monday night, you can help support Dillon’s Eagle project by eating at Uno’s (either Nashua location). 20% of the proceeds are earmarked for the Nashua Children’s Home to help defray some of the material costs associated with the project. Just print out the attached coupon and present it to your server. This Saturday, Dillon W has his Eagle Scout Service project at the Nashua Children’s Home on Amherst Street. Projects include assembly of picnic tables and some additional outdoor painting and landscaping.
On Tuesday night, we will have more information on sign-ups for Dillon’s Eagle Project, Advancement Teaching is scheduled by rank and Mr. Bob Leuci of the Windham Fire Department, will be giving a presentation on First Aid (2nd Class and First Class Skills). Scouts also need to practice their knots based on the poor skill game results last Tuesday—plan for a rematch to see what patrol knows their knot tying skills the best. Patrol Leaders should plan to have a few minutes at the troop meeting to “refresh” their patrol members on knots prior to the contest.
Order of the Arrow Members and Candidates are reminded to sign-up for the May Spring Fellowship Meeting and the June Conclave. Information has been sent by the OA and you can also download the forms from Passaconaway Lodge 220.
It is not too late to sign up for summer camp. Summer camp is one of the best times a scout can have while in scouting. There are plenty of activities and it sure beats staying around Nashua!
The troop can still use more new members. Be sure to ask around and invite boys that are at least 11 years old, or one who has completed the fifth grade or earned the Arrow of Light Award and is at least 10 years old, but is not yet 18 years old.
